Not Brushing For Long Enough

Many of us are guilty of not spending nearly enough time brushing our teeth, especially when we’re in a rush. But this is something you should definitely take care to avoid.

Most dental experts agree that you should spend around two minutes brushing your teeth, yet there’s no denying that most people fall short of this. But you do so at your own peril!

Brush your teeth for less than two minutes and you are more likely to leave deposits of tartar and food behind on your teeth, as well as stains.

So next time you’re brushing your teeth keep an eye on how long your routine normally lasts. To ensure you go the distance, it can be worth bringing a timer into your bathroom with you and setting it for two minutes, before you get started. This way you’ve got no excuse to stop brushing too soon!

You Focus On The Front

Most of us brush our teeth with the goal of achieving a whiter, brighter smile – which means that the backs of our teeth are often neglected.

Yet it’s important to be aware that plaque builds up on the back of your teeth as well. Hence it’s important to brush all over your teeth, including the front, back and sides!

Not Keeping An Eye On What You’re Doing

Ok, so brushing your teeth isn’t exactly the most exciting activity. But it’s vital that your don’t get distracted, and keep an eye on what you are doing, so that you can get the most out of you toothbrushing routine.

With this in mind, make a point of looking in the mirror whilst your brush your teeth, so you can see exactly what it is that you’re doing. In particular, keep a close eye on the area around your gum line, this can be an easy spot to miss, but it’s the most important part!

If you’re wondering why, it’s because this is the key area where plaque and tartar build up.

Paying better attention to your teeth will also increase the chances that you will notice if something is wrong – so keep those eyes peeled!
