Unfortunately for your white blood cells, the ink particles are far too big for them to break down. They might be able to take little bites out of them, but they can’t remove them completely. This is why your tattoo fades; your body is very slowly trying to break down your body art.

This is where laser tattoo removal comes in; what it does is give your white blood cells a helping hand by breaking up these ink particles into more manageable, bite size chunks. The way it does this is by heating up one side of the particle very quickly, causing huge internal stress on the ink particle which then causes it to rip apart. This means that your white blood cells can then get back to their job and carry off those ink particles to your liver.
