The Best – and Worst – Mistakes in Tattoos

Posted on : October 1, 2014  By : Wellness

Look, we all make mistakes. That’s ok, we’re only human and it’s what we do on a pretty regular and professional basis. But we don’t always tattoo those mistakes on our body, unlike these guys. With approximately a quarter of the population inked-up, there’s bound to be a few mistakes, regrets, and a lot of remorse the morning after. These are some of our favourite tattoo fails.

He Touched So Many

When Michael Jackson died in 2009, his record sales shot up – so if you’re a musician, death is a pretty easy path to fortune. But some of his fans chose to memorialise the artist in other ways. It’s hard to know the worst part of this staggeringly bad portrait of MJ. Is it the extraordinarily child-like rendition of Jacko? The factually incorrect ‘Forever with us’ banner? Or the laughably naïve ‘He touched so many…’? Actually, it’s all of the above, along with the fact that someone actually chose to tattoo this on their body – and proudly took photos of this mess.

Marvin the Marshian

Spelling mistakes aren’t uncommon in tattoos – and neither are people defending those mistakes. But hey, you would, wouldn’t you, if you’d just spent a hundred bucks on a tattoo? This Marvin the Martian tattoo sort of annoys us, because while the artwork is pretty awesome – and Marvin is a seriously underrated Warner Bros. character – it’s ruined by the tattoo artist’s phonetic spelling of the word ‘martian’. I mean, it’s not like he has a globally-connected information network capable of processing queries with a few strokes of a keyboard. Oh wait…

Only God Will Ju(d)ge Me

Tattoos make everyone look cool, right? Especially nerdy white teenagers. This kid obviously thought he’d be the badass-est badass on the block with a catchy, narcissistic motto and a picture of Death below. And then there’s the missing ‘D’ in judge, which… we don’t know, is it intentional? Is it a statement on how this guy breaks all the rules, including grammatical ones? It’s like all our tattoo nightmares have come true at once.  And if you think that’s bad…

Est. 1995

No words. We literally have no words for this. Thankfully, a picture speaks a thousand of them. All of them negative.
