Most Popular Tattoos

Posted on : November 20, 2014  By : Wellness

A tattoo (or two) can be used to express your personality and special unique snowflake status. Some choose to go for something completely different, and perhaps a little questionable, while others stick to tradition, and choose their new ink from a book full of popular designs. We’re going to look at a few of the most popular tattoos that seem to find their way onto the skin of every Tom, Dick and Harry.

Stars

Stars come in many forms, from the old school nautical style, to the dainty little ones dusted across a neck or back. Meanings of the star tattoo are varied and can refer to religion and the relationship between God and man when in the form of a six pointed star or the Star of David. Add a few more points to that star to make give it nine, and it can become a symbol of achievement and stability.

Anchor

The popular anchor design is traditionally reserved for sailors and seamen, but its popularity has reached far beyond that. The anchor tattoo is often seen as a symbol of strength or faith, and can have religious connotations. The anchor is said to have once been a design that was used to camouflage a crucifix tattoo. This was a way of having a symbol of faith without it being blatantly obvious. There are many designs that incorporate the two together, representing strength in faith.

Popular names sporting this tattoo: Miley Cyrus, Kate Moss, Beth Ditto

Crucifix

A traditionally religious tattoo, this design, in some form or another, manages to appear on many more people than just your average church goer. Some people choose the tattoo, not for the religious meaning, but in remembrance of a lost loved one. You often find crucifix tattoos paired up with names or dates. Cross designs seem to often be a ‘go-to’ tattoo for first timers wanting to lose their ink virginity.
