Loving You is Hard Tattoo: Celebrities Who Regretted Getting Tattoos of Their Ex Partner

If you want to show your partner that you love and are committed to them, we suggest that you write it in a letter, buy them something nice or simply just tell them. What you shouldn’t do is go out and get their name tattooed on your skin. It doesn’t matter how much you love them (so much), or how long you’ve been together (4 months is such a loooong time) – a tattoo is something that can’t be removed as easily as their stuff from your house once you decide it isn’t working out.

A lot of people make this mistake, and a lot of celebrities who should know better also make this mistake too. Haven’t they heard of the Hollywood curse? Here is a list of just some of our favourite stars who declared their love in ink and then regretted it.

Johnny Depp

Our favourite pirate once thought that he was deeply in love with actress Winona Ryder. They started dating in 1989 and Depp proposed just a year later, certain that they would go on to spend the rest of their lives together. To show how much he loved her, he decided to get a tattoo on his arm that read ‘Winona Forever.’ Cute! Unfortunately true love didn’t run smoothly and they split just three years later. Depp didn’t get the tattooed removed; he simply changed it to ‘Wino Forever’ – because wine never leaves you.

Heidi Klum

We thought that Heidi and Seal were forever, and evidently they did too. Heidi got the name of her then husband tattooed on her arm to celebrate their fourth wedding anniversary. We suppose that after making it to four years, they probably thought nothing could break them. The couple even had three children together, and Seal adopted her daughter from a previous relationship. We were all really hoping they would last, but almost seven years later, they separated. Heidi soon started laser treatment on her arm – it’s almost unrecognisable now!

Angelina Jolie

Before Brangelina, there was Angelina and Billy Bob. They were the media’s favourite couple, keeping them entertained with wacky displays of affection – including wearing each other’s blood around their necks (gross). Married after only two months of dating, Angelina decided to show how much she loved her new husband by getting his name (and a dragon) tattooed on her upper arm. Their marriage only lasted a few years, and they swiftly divorced. She eventually started laser surgery to get the tattoo removed and now we are keeping our fingers crossed that her and Brad make it last!
