3 Myths Surrounding Laser Hair Removal- Debunked!
Posted on : November 27, 2015 By : Wellness
As leading providers of laser hair removal in Airdrie, we’ve come across many people who have tried everything to keep unwanted hair at bay.
Waxing, plucking, shaving… these common treatments aren’t for everyone and it’s little wonder that many people are now turning to the more permanent solutions such as laser hair removal.
However, with most cosmetic procedures that are out there, there are always going to be myths surrounding them. Here are 3 of the most common myths that we are questioned on and our professional responses to them!
“It’s Incredibly Painful”
Everyone has varying different pain levels, so while we can say that we don’t feel any discomfort while undergoing the treatment, it might not be the same for you.
Many of our customers report that having a laser hair removal procedure was less painful than waxing or threading, but the only way that you will know what your pain threshold is, is to have a trial run of the procedure.
It’s probably a given that more sensitive areas of your body will hurt a bit more than others, so be sure to keep that in mind.
“The Procedure Takes Ages”
Depending on the area of hair that you want to remove, many treatmens take less than 5 minutes to do.
However, the full removal procedure must be done in stages in order for the results to last, so be warned that you may have to attend regular procedures whenever your hair comes out of its resting phase which is known as telogen.
It may take a little longer to achieve the smooth skin that you are looking for, but you would be shaving multiple times during that period if you weren’t undergoing the treatment.
“The Lasers Damage Your Skin”
As long as you follow the guidelines laid out to your following the procedure by your expert, you shouldn’t notice any damage to your skin.
Like many hair removal procedures, you may notice some redness around the area that has been treated, but this is nothing that a little moisturising sunscreen can’t deal with. Before you know it, you’ll have flawless- hair free skin!
Make sure that you avoid sitting in the sun for too long following the treatment for a few days, but you are al good to gently shave any stray hair growth in between your treatments, but leave it well alone for about tw weeks prior to your next treatment so that we can see where still needs to be laser-ed!
Laser hair removal is incredibly effective for removing stubborn hair that you are sick of trying to keep under control. It’s one of our most popular treatments here at the Apple Wellness Center, and our experts perform the procedure almost every day.
