Severe Pain

Receiving a blow to your mouth or jaw can cause excruciating pain. Even if your teeth look intact there could still be serious damage that requires attention. It is not a good idea to wait and see if the pain goes away naturally. You could be in need of an x-ray and further treatment. Severe pain after trauma is a dental emergency so seek help.

 Avulsed Tooth

An avulsed tooth is a tooth that is knocked out completely and is no doubt extremely painful. It can be caused by a sudden impact. You will have to act quickly and retrieve your tooth or get a friend to help. Time is critical when you have just lost your tooth so you will have to get help within an hour. Decisive action could be the difference between saving your tooth or losing it.  

Extruded Tooth

Similar to an avulsed tooth, this injury is when the tooth has not come out, but is moved from its usual position. It could even be hanging on by a thread of tissue. You will have to be brave and if you can, put the tooth back into position. Much like with an avulsed tooth, it is vital that you see an emergency dentist as soon as you can.
