The Factors That Determine The Success of Tattoo Removal

Posted on : November 2, 2015  By : Wellness

Tattoos are referred to as being an expression of an individual’s personality. Many even consider them as being works of art. Whether you believe they are or not, there is no denying that tattoos continue to grow in popularity.

Whilst some tattoos are personal or significant to people, others are done through impulse or poor decisions. These are the people who end up in the Apple Wellness Center for tattoo removal.

Tattoo removal isn’t as easy as people think and there are several factors that will determine how well we can remove yours. We’ve compiled a list of what you need to consider.

Skin Tone

There is no messing around when you get a tattoo – it’s designed to permanently be on your skin. This means that the ink penetrates the second layer of your skin – the dermis. This is usually protected by your first layer of skin.

During tattoo removal, the dermis is targeted whilst keeping your first layer of skin safe. Your skin tone can affect the amount of time that it takes to successfully reach the dermis. Those with darker skin are likely to need more treatment than those with a lighter skin tone. This is because they typically absorb more light, making it harder to focus on the tattoo pigment.

Age, Location & Size

When it comes to tattoo removal, it’s often the tattoo itself that will determine the success of laser treatment. This is why we always say that every individual is different. The first thing that we will consider is the age of the tattoo; when was it done? Older tattoos are likely to have faded more, therefore making them easier to remove.

Where is the tattoo located on the body? It becomes more difficult to remove tattoos that are in places with a limited blood supply, such as the hands, legs or feet. Tattoos on the face and neck are often a lot easier to remove.

The last thing to consider about the tattoo is obviously the size and shape. The bigger the tattoo is, the most sessions that it will take to remove.

The Colour of The Ink

It’s easier to remove certain ink colours than others. Whilst you might assume it would be harder to remove dark colours – it’s actually the other way round. Green, blue and black are often the easiest colours to remove, whilst colours such as white, yellow and orange, remain more challenging.

Before getting a tattoo, you should definitely think it through beforehand. They are not so easy to remove, so it’s worth thinking it through and then thinking it through again.
