Our Team
Dr. Sefcik has always believed his true calling in life was to serve the people of Alberta and, as a result of his work at the Apple Wellness Center, his life’s ambition has finally been well and truly fulfilled.
Born in Alberta, Dr. Sefcik studied for a Bachelor of Commerce degree in his home town. On completion, however, he decided that he wanted to serve the people of Alberta in the best way he could think of; becoming one of the most compassionate and skilled doctors in Alberta. To complete his dream, Dr. Sefcik ventured away from his hometown to further his medical capabilities. In May 2007, he was awarded his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Degree by the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. From there he was honoured to be based in Pontiac, Michigan to complete a further 2- year primary care and surgical residency program to broaden his areas of podiatric expertise.
Whilst undergoing this intensive training, Dr. Sefcik became fully accustomed to multiple podiatric procedures; ranging from common ailments like ingrown toenail avulsions, to more advanced treatments like fracture repairs. Following a great deal of success, Dr. Sefcik was named Chief Resident in his senior year, a position that saw him cover three different hospitals in the nearby area.
He completed podiatric rotations in Anesthesiology, Behavioral Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease, Pathology, Radiology and Vascular and General Surgery. Not stopping there, Dr. Sefcik also developed a particular focus upon on the areas of biomechanics, Charcot foot, diabetic feet, wound care, sports medicine and osteopathic manipulation techniques during this time as well.
One of Dr. Sefcik’s primary interests is the implementation of non-surgical corrections. His aim is always to give patients the best possible standards of care, whilst also relieving pain and symptoms in a way that ensures his patients get back to the feet in no time. Always conducting full examinations, Dr. Sefcik assists patients to make informed decisions about their conditions, thereby minimising any future problems.
Dr. Sefcik is a member of the Alberta Podiatric Association, the Canadian Podiatric Medical Association, the American College of Sports Medicine, and has also had work published in Podiatry Today. He has received acclaim working alongside athletes, and, following a desire to understand specific challenges faced by runners, is himself a keen runner, having completed a half-marathon.
